Edwards Gardens

One of the best things about being a wedding photographer is discovering a city through its weddings venues, especially the outdoors: parks, gardens, beaches, and out-of-the-way places. I have a part-time desk job, but the rest of the time I can roam and explore and be mobile, which is perfect for me. I can’t really see myself as a studio photographer… maybe in the winter?

Of course, I have to prepare a Plan B in case it rains, but it’s possible to take great photos when it rains, too — it makes the flora lush and vibrant, and it softens the light and the air, which is flattering in photos. (The downside? Big, frizzy hair. If you’ve got thick, naturally curly/wavy hair like mine, you’ll know what I’m talking about. If it were short, it would turn into an afro.)

I visited Edwards Gardens for the first time today, to scope it out for a wedding next month. I was there at dusk and it was on the verge of raining; the light was low and on the cool side due to the clouds.
