Backup, Backup, Backup!
3 Comments Published by Gail August 22nd, 2008 in Memes, Polls, Quizzes, Unabashed Geekiness, cameraphoneSticker on the cable bag of my Maxtor external firewire drive, purchased over the weekend.
I’m currently on my third external firewire drive. The first two are 250GBs, this one is 500GBs. Someone suggested that I get a 1TB (terabyte) drive, but I’m willing to wait — prices will always decrease for storage while capacity [...]
I was surfing the internet at the bus station on the iPod Touch and thought I’d lose the signal, but to my utter amazement it stayed at full strength all the way out of the city centre. I couldn’t imagine I was daisy-chaining for so long (which never gives a full continuous signal, anyway), so [...]
Oy, what’s with the extraneous punctuation?

Upgraded to PHP5 FastCGI
0 Comments Published by Gail May 8th, 2008 in Unabashed Geekiness, gailatlarge.comYou may not have noticed, but last night I upgraded from PHP4 to PHP5. Everything went smoothly, so I went one step further and upgraded to FastCGI for PHP.
What does this mean?
PHP5 (FastCGI)
All files with the extension .php will be handled by PHP5 FastCGI processes. FastCGI for PHP makes all your PHP applications run through [...]
You Will Travel Far and Wide (And Wrestle With Colour)
4 Comments Published by Gail April 25th, 2008 in Friends, Out + About, Photography, Unabashed GeekinessJose-Jose’s fortune cookie is right — he is travelling far and wide. Actually, we all are, but he’s going the third-soonest after Anf and Rosie, who are leaving next week. That’s one thing I love about the CSers: everyone is either catching a flight soon or just got off a plane. Everyone’s on the move [...]
WordPress 2.5
1 Comment Published by Gail April 11th, 2008 in Unabashed Geekiness, Xena & Beano, gailatlarge.comI’ve finally gotten around to upgrading my site to the latest version of WordPress, but I did it a little differently… so if you see coding weirdness, please do let me know. The site itself will look pretty much the same as before, but the whole interface behind the curtain is laid out differently. It’s [...]
PictoBrowser+Flickr Plugin For Wordpress
5 Comments Published by Gail December 30th, 2007 in Unabashed Geekiness, gailatlarge.comFor any Wordpress users out there who would prefer to show their Flickr photo sets directly on their site instead of opening up a separate window, this may be for you. The plugin can be modified to accommodate whatever width you require.

Fresh Off The FedEx
2 Comments Published by Gail December 29th, 2007 in Acts of Kindness, Unabashed GeekinessI picked up my Christmas present from my brother today… and excellent timing, too, as I’m getting around to editing the Stanley Park Christmas train videos with the kids in Vancouver. There’s also a big digital pile of videos that haven’t been edited at all. And, of course, there are lots of Toronto Short Film [...]
I’m beginning to see a pattern here. When I’m feeling badly, I build a website. This domain (gailatlarge.com) is now two years old, and I’ve just built another website.
I dunno, there’s something about wrestling with code that takes me out of myself. While everyone’s conversations sound like the parents in a Peanuts cartoon (wah wah [...]
More Sushi Art
0 Comments Published by Gail December 15th, 2007 in Food + Drink, Unabashed GeekinessThis one’s called The Volcano. And it’s spelled right, unlike here. But you know, spelling doesn’t matter when food looks this good.
I’m getting ready to push off again, this time for Persian food, not sushi. There have been THREE attempts to try out The Pomegranate, but *ahem* a certain Persian guy who shall remain nameless [...]
