Some more pics from my exciting first flight in the pilot’s seat on May 30, certainly an event that will remain in my memory buffer for some time to come.

I had to put the seat all the way forward to reach the pedals and the instructor had to go find a cushion for me to [...]

I’m decompressing from a long day of work and flight school. I get home late (after 11 o’clock), and then I want to do as little as possible.
I see this barn every time I drive to flight school. There was a lot of traffic today and I was already late, so I stopped to take [...]

Day of Learning

It’s been a full day of learning, and my mind is oversaturated. So to wind down, I’m listening to Seuss and Addie’s 56th podcast of The Unharshed Mellow for the second time since they aired it last week and I’m going to process a couple of photos and then go to bed.
Today consisted of an [...]

On Top of the World

May 1, 2005. Our highest altitude in the Tri-Pacer together.
Ironically, I nearly didn’t attend my meteorology class… because of the weather. It was ugly when I left — rain and strong wind. But thankfully it eased off while I was leaving the city centre and eventually stopped raining.
The instructor said earlier, before the break, that [...]

Might end up using protractor and ruler to prop my eyelids open.
Am at serious disadvantage because I don’t know where in tarnation all of southern Ontario’s small towns (and airports) are located.
Must bring road atlas from car next class.
Don’t forget water bottle.
Classroom stuffy.
90 minutes to go.

A wee lamb meets another wee lamb (Maribeth, 3).
After driving through pouring rain all the way home from the flight school in Brampton where it was snowing/sleeting (thank goodness for upgrading my windscreen wipers a couple of weeks ago), all I want to do is drink my tea and process the digital stack of photos [...]

Stop… Driving

Am finally home after a ground school evening that went later than usual (after 10 o’clock), plus I got stuck in traffic because there was an accident along the 410. I take the 410, 401, 427, then the Gardiner Expressway, so between those four highways to and from the flight centre there is a high [...]

The PSTAR exam is tomorrow, and I don’t think I’m ready to take it yet. I was only able to book my medical appointment today with a doctor in Toronto that was on the list of Transport Canada’s approved medical examiners. I’m supposed to have that category 3 medical certificate before I take the PSTAR [...]

Ground School #4

It’s 8:30pm and we finally get a break, goodness gracious. I was getting squirrelly…
… it’s a lot of sitting in one day, with only a period of aggressive rush hour driving in between. Because of where I live, Wednesday means breaking a LOT of road rules to get from my underground parking to the [...]

Plaza de San Francisco de Asis
Havana, Cuba
December 28, 2006
I’m posting another photo from Cuba as a little diversion from reading about airplane engines for my ground school class tomorrow night. This is the busiest time of the week for me: reading for class on Wednesday, work, race home, straight to class, three-hour class, arrive home [...]
