And to round out the evening (or start off the morning?) is an auto-reply tweet from a bot. Welcome to 2012, where the previous sentence actually makes sense.

The Heavy-Duty Editing continues unabated, interrupted only by eating, sleeping, afternoons at The Firm, and laundry. Oh, and the Turning 40 Plan in progress. Not much downtime here at the House of Fielding, but it’s a good kind of busy.
Hope you’re enjoying spring, too. It’s good to see colour back in the city and in my walking-home pics. This week marks 10 months of walking home!

me on a day pass, haha
Behind a camera I can get quite bossy.
I made them change a bunch of times.
These guys Work Out A Lot.
You know, I can think of much worse ways to spend a Sunday, even if it’s 9+ hours of shooting after 4 hours of sleep. As you can tell by now, my brain is a little fried (and my camera wrist is sore) after the last 48 crazy hours.
I won’t be able to post any of today’s photos for a while, so you’ll just have to, um, use your imagination until then. That’s what I had to do when I was told about this shoot!

This was why I had to keep the pictures below hush-hush. The party was Friday night and I feel like I’m still recovering from it!

You know you’re getting old when you are at the same time relieved it’s Friday, yet bracing yourself for the weekend’s activities. I’m going to need some fortification for the next four days, maybe it’s time I introduced myself to this thing called Red Bull.
The photo above was taken yesterday on the way home, in front of the ritzy Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Pop by if you find yourself in the area — there are some gorgeous yellow blooms there in the form of tulips and daffodils.
You might’ve noticed people wearing daffodil pins and buying daffodils recently. That’s because it’s daffodil time, a month to show your support for people living with cancer.

In related news, I just had my first mammogram today at Princess Margaret Hospital, a place I drive to every week to deliver patients who are in treatment. After participating in two cancer research studies there and driving patients there for nearly two years, it was a strange feeling to be there for a screening. It’s worth it, though, for peace of mind.

I made it past Hump Day for this week, a week filled with (Capital O) Obligations, most of which I can’t talk about on the internet. So I’ll share Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday’s Instagram photos instead. Most were taken while walking home. More “real” photos later, when I can show them.

Little Trinity Anglican Church
Who’s afraid of Friday the 13th? Not me! I’m not just un-superstitious, I think any day can be a good one if you want it to be.
I had to run a bunch of errands in the morning, which included scoping tomorrow’s wedding reception venue, which is conveniently located near Vistek, where I dropped off my camera to have the sensor cleaned. I arranged to pick it up when I came by at 5:30 to pick up equipment for the wedding, then scooted over to High Park for a very quick 10 minutes of photographing the lower grove of trees in High Park. You can tell I’m in the lower grove because the blossoms are a darker shade of pink. Up on the hill by Grenadier Cafe, the blossoms are a lighter pink.
Since I dropped off the DSLR and didn’t have it with me, I used my phone and ran some of the photos through Instagram. I love the square format, although it takes some getting used to when you want to frame subject matter. I’ve already had to do some arbitrary chopping because my eyes are accustomed to a rectangle rather than a square. Round eyes –> rectangular viewfinder –> square photo. Confusing.
Anyway, this next batch of photos is topped off with a couple of food pics — to break up the cherry blossom bonanaza of late — taken at Biago Ristorante on King Street.

I’ve had my fair share of chocolate mousse, but I have to say this was my favourite! It was much denser than regular mousse, and being a big fan of nuts, I was pleasantly surprised (nay, enthused) over the topping of crushed hazelnuts and pistachios and accompaniment of berries.
Seriously, the whole meal was divine but I’d return just to have this mousse again.

I’m in a food coma which is competing with delirium from too many hours with my eyes open. I will let the (Instagram) photos speak for themselves so I can drift into dreamland.
The photos were taken at Ding Tai Fung in Markham. These dumplings were worth driving 71kms roundtrip for.

Office Easter
The free mobile phone image filter company Instagram finally got their Android version live this past week, which means millions more people worldwide are pissed off with fellow diners taking photographs of their meals and uploading them to every social media platform available.
Me, I just like the square format and less typing. I’m a photo maker, after all, this is just one more way to make a smartphone picture look less terrible.

A sign for all those lost souls, I guess.
