I’m now home from my weekend of gastronomic and oceanic delight in coastal Maine, but it’s after 3am so I’m going to do a cameraphone photo dump and go to bed. Here’s the low-res version of the weekend, as viewed through a Blackberry’s tiny lens that needs a good cleaning:
Friday: St. Catherines, ON
Friday: Niagara Falls
Saturday: bridge between New Hampshire and Maine
Saturday: cruise ship that got delayed in Portland (ME) because of Hurricane Earl.
Monday: “photography spoken here” — except for holiday Mondays.
Monday: over the Hudson River, just south of Albany, NY.
Now, for food:
In 2009, Bon Appetit called Portland, Maine “… America’s foodiest little town”
Saturday: Becky’s Diner — this spot on Commercial Street is very popular!
Monday: smoked salmon Eggs Benedict, with fried green tomatoes. The eggs were done perfectly (medium, with no runny bits), the fried green tomatoes were perfect, and the Hollandaise was perfect. After many years of searching for the Perfect Eggs Benedict, this is definitely one of the best.
