It probably comes as no surprise that I passed out on the bed by 10:30 last night — lights on, clothes on, contact lens in — while waiting for the RAW files to convert to JPEGs, especially with the crazy week I’ve had that ended in an all-night charity event, which I left early to pack and head to the airport. (I had only enough brain power to upload 45 photos from Relay For Life and write that post. Thankfully I can sleep on planes.) But the upside of going to sleep that early, albeit unintentionally, is that it’s not even 7am and I’m showered and ready to shoot in morning light, which is always better than in midday.

Within an hour of landing at the airport, I was at a poetry reading on the beach, the theme being the environment.

I’m couchsurfing while in Barbados, though this is hardly a couch! I have a great host who everyone seems to know — everywhere he goes, people stop to talk to him. I’ve lost track of how many people I met yesterday. I think by week’s end, I’ll have met the entire island!
In other words, things are going swimmingly well.

By the way, for those with the password, my whereabouts can be found in the Where page. I’ve turned my phone off but can be reached by email.
