It’s been warm all this week and I set up a tall kitchen stool by the front window for the beasties to catch morning sun. The chair has a seat barely wide enough to accommodate the two of them, yet they both insist on watching the world go by from this perch, which results in bickering, the occasional smack with the paw, and begrudging co-existence.

It looks as if those two don’t miss a beat.
Nice shot!
They are on top of things, that’s for sure… the Neighbourhood Block Watch.
Franklin loves it when we “put on the big screen” (open up the balcony curtains). He’s especially intrigued when my neighbor’s cats (she’s got 4!) are out in the courtyard below.
Another neighbor on the my floor says that her dog goes nuts when they bring her out for a walk and she sees Franklin in the window – she thinks that means that they’re going to see him!
Meant to mention how much I love the way the sun lights up the various colors in their coats in these photos … I’m often shocked when I’m holding Franklin in the sun and I realize how many different shades are in his black fur, even though it seems to be a single solid color block in lower light.
Interestingly, Beano’s fur is less black and more dark brown plus white while Xena’s fur is as close to black as can be. That’s why it’s harder to take a decent photo of her, because I have to use the DSLR with lots of light, and the hardest part of all — getting her to STAY STILL.
