Snow, Atlanta? Seriously? It’s melting now, but four inches of snow on Friday shut down the entire city and nearly the airport, creating a mess of such proportions that airport operations couldn’t keep up.
The short version is that I arrived more than half an hour late, the plane was stuck waiting for a gate for more than an hour, and the last Marta train from the airport left just as my bag came out of the carousel. There was a two-hour wait for taxis because of icy conditions, and my hosts — who were waiting for me — braved the road mess and fetched me from the airport at nearly 2am!
Charlotte waited up, too…
