After volunteering for the day on Saturday at The Brides’ Project, I was starving. There’s something about being around all that polyester that makes me want to eat a big meal afterwards.

I’d made tentative plans to meet a friend for dinner that was postponed from the week, but I couldn’t track him down. With food on the brain, I shamelessly invited myself over to Natalia’s house because I know she loves to cook. Granted, I went to the grocery store first to see what I could bring along so I wouldn’t show up empty-handed (because that would be even MORE shameless). What was for dinner?

Meat — it’s Natalia’s specialty. I will be the first to admit I’m not very good at cooking meat. I’m not a vegetarian, but when I do eat meat it’s usually at a restaurant and when I eat meat at home it’s prepared in a very simple way.

Can you see the bacon? The steaks have bacon on top!
What did I bring?

Why, dessert. No Frills has a terrible bakery department, but I did manage to find ONE item that had ingredients with natural flavours and not a long list of preservatives: pecan butter tarts.
And look — handmade Christmas tree earrings! Er, not part of dinner but I showed them off at dinner. Again, shameless…

All that meat and the past week’s sleep deprivation caught up with me and I fell asleep at Natalia’s after dinner. Shamelessly! Ah well, I am a good dinner guest in that I always eat everything on my plate. (Helma will back me up on this!)
