I’m in pretty good spirits, considering I started the day off with getting my FIRST SPEEDING TICKET IN TORONTO* and the cold I’ve been on the verge of all week since returning from Vancouver has robbed me of my voice! I’m whisper-croaking now, but I feel fine — it just sounds terrible, as if someone tied up my vocal chords like shoelaces. The cold is completely concentrated in my chest and throat and left the rest of my body intact. Lucky me: this seasonal sickness has hit everyone else much harder and I got off lightly. Hopefully this is as bad as it gets. *knocks on wood*

I volunteered all day at The Brides’ Project, where there’s a big sale during the month of March. Over the course of the day I did a lot of talking, which didn’t help. If only the tabby cats could talk for me! This is Douglas, one of the tabbies-in-residence. The others include the vocal Charlie, and Peanut, who is a total scaredy-cat and no-one but Helen can touch. Together with a group of human volunteers, they comprise the team at The Brides’ Project, and our combined goals of helping brides make their wedding day more affordable while fundraising for cancer charities is why I’m in good spirits after that rotten ticket and this cold… I met a lot of lovely people today who are enthusiastic about our efforts for charity, and getting great deals on wedding outfits was the icing on the cake.

If you, Dear Reader, know of any ladies in the Toronto area who are getting married soon, send them our way! They can find out more about the March Sale here.

    * more on that ticket after I fight it! It’s only the third ticket of my life — nearly 20 years of driving! First ticket in California in 2001, second ticket in Vancouver in 2003? I want to keep it that way!
