  1. Comfort Food

    December 19, 2008 by Gail

Last night I was in need of some comfort food, and since Helma’s hearty German cooking is 800 snowy kilometres away and I needed something spicy to keep me warm, I opted for my usual #412 (chicken and lemongrass with chili) at Xe Lua on Spadina Avenue.

What is YOUR winter comfort food? (If your local winter is cold, that is.)

#412 - chicken with lemongrass and chili is my comfort food!

  2. Bereavement Research

By coincidence, on Wednesday I received the research report from the University of Utrecht (The Netherlands) in which I was a participant during 2007 to study bereavement and writing. I completed three questionnaires, three months apart starting in January, and I wrote five homework assignments, the last of which was completed in late September. It was a more involving study compared to the one I completed for the University of Saskatchewan in 2006, which was two questionnaires six months apart.

I skimmed through the University of Utrecht report and the findings were very interesting — to me, at least — because I was able to read the responses from other participants. I sent an email to my contact at the university asking if I could share the report with others who may benefit from the research, but I haven’t heard back yet.

  3. Toronto is a snowglobe today

    December 19, 2008 by Gail

It’s been pretty blizzard-like for most of today. Yesterday it was like that in Calgary, the day before that it was Vancouver.

In this photo you can’t tell, but it’s blowing snow.
