OK, maybe not in Spain. More like Germany. The weather was fantastic over the weekend for the wedding and took a somewhat stormy turn after we drove back to Hamburg. The humidity should’ve warned us what was to come, but in a state of denial we tried to check out the Harley Days Festival (as in Harley Davidson Motorcyles), got rained on and escaped to an umbrella-covered cafe along the Reeperbahn instead.
I didn’t get a window seat this morning (because I’m too cheap to pay for seat selection* on Air Transat), but it didn’t matter so much, anyway, since the weather wasn’t optimal. Except I really wanted to get some shots over Iceland… (got some good ones last year)
[On a sidenote, I don't know how I managed to stay awake through two movies, but I did: Fool's Gold with Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson was quite possibly the worst film I have seen in recent memory (I'd almost say EVER, except someone made the stinker Just Cause). I thought P.S. I Love You would also follow suit in the Department of Cheese, but it turned out to be sadly quite relevant to me (I had no idea what the movie was about before I saw it) and at times funny and poignant. Still enough cheese to make a fondue, but the story and acting was far more redeeming and Gerard Butler -- a Scot playing an Irishman in the film -- has the sort of rugged appeal that could launch a thousand Ireland tourism campaigns.]
Currently back in Toronto now, where the weather is summer stormy, too.
* For those folks who use Air Canada and Aeroplan: don’t pay for seat selection! I have ‘window seat’ in my Aeroplan profile preferences, and I always get a window seat without paying extra for it. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I hadn’t been by the window. I also do online check-in a day in advance, which probably helps to get assigned early for seat selection.
