… we could avoid the drama of the Car Ride.
We all survived the first visit to the vet since those days back in January when we were going at least once a week. Arliin’s mother gave me Xena and Beano’s carriers in March, which I’d hidden away in the closet until I surprised Beano this morning with its sudden reappearance.
This morning it was vaccinations and a consultation with the vet as to Beano’s overall health. He still has the heart murmur they discovered in January (which he didn’t have in November), but his weight is up and everything is looking alright from the initial exam. I’ll find out in the next day or two what his kidney levels show. The reading in January showed improvement from November, so hopefully this time will be even better or at least no worse.
When the vet first saw The Old Bean she said, “Oh, I see grey hairs!” but for Beano’s sake let’s say she meant it in a George Clooney-spotting kind of way…

I hope the days of (mostly) drama-free vet visits continue with my kids. Franklin is Mr. Mellow – completely chill and unfazed by the whole experience. Daisy likes to whine a bit on the ride, but is mostly fine with the whole experience as well, especially if the vet gives her favorite Lean Treats (which I buy and dole out at home as well now).
My sister’s cat Peanut hates going in the car. But last time she took him to the vet, she found there was a certain techno song that calmed him down. Ironic, that the oontz oontz tunes – which make most people amped or annoyed – gave him a mellow trip.
Krisanne, I *WISH* they were like Franklin! I don’t give these cats treats, unfortunately for them, because Xena is a little too round to begin with and I haven’t found any low-protein treats for Beano.
Francesca, I may just try that… the vet’s pretty far — it took us 40 minutes to get there yesterday. Beano might enjoy Crystal Method’s “Vegas”, but we shall see!
