I don’t know why the date of March 4 got stuck in my head, because it was actually March 3, 2006 when I arrived in Toronto with a U-Haul filled with the contents of our house in Pennsylvania, the car, and one terrified and drugged out kitty. I’d never lived here before, and I knew only three people personally, two of whom were out of town constantly on business. (Even now, I haven’t seen one of them for about a year, the other one for about nine months, the third not at all since moving here.)
Much has happened in the past two years; truly an understatement. I’m in my third apartment in this city, sold the house and plane in PA, scattered David’s ashes on his 39th birthday, lost my beloved Hugh, worked for the provincial government, went to ground school and flew an airplane for the first time on David’s 40th birthday, went to Europe three times, plus Florida, Cuba, Iceland, and Morocco for the first time, back and forth to Vancouver five times, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania too many times to count, lost my best friend in Toronto to unknown causes, and adopted her two cats. And I’m sure I missed out on some things…
