The 2007 index of Arliin’s comments has been a long time coming; I found putting together 2007 was more difficult than 2006 because it was getting closer to the present reality that there would never be any more words from Arliin.

I also had the impression that Arliin wrote fewer comments in 2007 compared to 2006, but as you can see this list has 30 comments, two more than 2006. I thought it would be vice versa, because in 2007 Arliin and I went on far more outings together and I wrote far fewer posts. But no, Arliin was — as she was known to be — very consistent, even when she wasn’t trying to be.

As with 2006, most of Arliin’s comment were brief, and some of the longer ones are behind passwords in protected posts.

A few days ago I had a dream and Arliin was in it. I can’t remember what the context of the dream was, but I vaguely recall she was dressed up quite fancily — which should’ve been my first tip-off that it was a dream! I was so surprised and happy to see her I reached out and put my hands on her shoulders to see if she was real, and she was… and then I woke up.

It’s a strange place to be in, to archive someone’s words so as to imagine her saying them. One time on the streetcar I overheard a woman talking just like Arliin, who had a distinct voice, and it was a little startling.
