  1. Did I Just Land In “The Red Green Show”??

Today was my initiation to the outdoor gear store paradise that is Bass Pro Shop, which is all over the eastern United States, with a few outlets scattered around the west. Apparently this is the only one in Canada.

It is ENORMOUS and built like a hunting and fishing lodge, with an aquarium-sized fish tank and taxidermy animals everywhere. They even have a floatplane hanging from the ceiling!

It’s like I left Toronto and landed in the Red Green Show.

  2. Riverdale Farm

    gabbing, chewing the fat, what-have-you

Riverdale Farm, Toronto’s urban farmyard (similar to Vancouver’s Petting Zoo in Stanley Park and Maplewood Farm in North Vancouver), is a place I’ve been wanting to visit and shoot since I moved here. I wish I had the Ms here, though! They’d love it!

I didn’t know where Riverdale Park was, exactly, until today when I planned to photograph CS sledders at the slope. I finally found it after some meandering off the Don Valley Parkway, but when I couldn’t find any of the CS people (just a lot of kids), I took the opportunity of a slow day at the farm due to foul weather to explore the barnyards with my cameras. I invited a friend along who happens to love animals, so it turned out to be the perfect day for hanging out with animals. The rain was making it impossible to shoot outdoors and it was empty enough at the farm to have complete freedom to move around and set up shots.
