Autumn Flying Over Pennsylvania

It’s been ages since I uploaded a videoclip, but that is only because I tend to get hyper-editorial about videos and having them play just so, not from lack of material. Video editing can therefore become very time-consuming, so I decided to just let this one go, even though YouTube couldn’t handle the file properly and plays only the music track and not the first audio track that has the sound of the engine. Bah! Well, let’s just pretend we can hear the engine roar, shall we? Just this time.

This is a short clip of take-off from Cherry Ridge Airport last Sunday. It’s a bit before 9 o’clock in the morning, and it’s evident we’re heading north because the shadow of the Super Cub is on our left (west). It’s also a little windy, as you can tell by the bumpy video. The leaves are beginning to turn, but autumn isn’t quite in full swing yet. And it’s not as hazy as it was two weeks ago.

We followed the Delaware River and I got some shots of bridges, churches and farms with big red barns (which I love).

I never get tired of shooting the windmills at Waymart.

A final shot of Alan coming in for a landing at Cherry Ridge. In this photo you can see the runway extensions that were added recently.

My husband surprised me with my first flight in a small float plane 2 weeks ago for my birthday. We flew low over Skookumchuk Rapids, up the inlet and landed at Ruby Lake for dinner and then back to Sechelt to land in Porpoise Bay just at sunset. It was beautiful! fantastic! I see why you love flying in a small plane.

Good idea, Sam! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed yourself, Melanie. What’s next, a hot air balloon? I’ve never flown in a float plane, although I’ve wanted to for a long time and I’d booked myself on a Beaver ride at Wings & Wheels in May. What happened? The previous load had to make an emergency landing on Lake Ontario and they weren’t making any more runs because they were stuck on the lake… why couldn’t it have been me? *sob* I was one plane load too late.
