I’ve got a horseshoe up… where the sun don’t shine, shall we say… for parking here in Montreal, because I’ve found street parking downtown both days for either small change or free during a very busy weekend. Between Canada Day festivities and the Jazz Festival the city centre is flooded with tourists and locals and vehicles, but I’ve opted to drive instead of using the metro so I can zip here and there where the metro doesn’t go. (I’m planning to save up my VIA Rail vouchers for a winter trip to Montreal and use the public transit system then, when I don’t have the car. I’m about a third of the way to accumulating a free train trip.)
Anyway, after a massive Sunday brunch of eggs benedict and fruit in West Montreal, I parked just off rue Saint-Catherine and we strolled eastwards, ending up where the main stages of the International Jazz Festival were set up — around Place des Arts. From there it was all about the music:
I would share some of the music with you via videoclip, but the batteries for the Canon A520 went kaput and I didn’t bring my spares! Drat!
