duelling camerasMelissa’s got a DSLR and I’ve got a point-and-shoot digicam. She wins. (Actually, she’s using her Uncle Alvin’s camera.)

It goes without saying, seeing Melissa with a camera warms the cockles of Auntie Gail’s heart. (Or I suppose it could be said: if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. There are probably more photos of Melissa than any of her siblings.)

You know what else warms the cockles of Auntie Gail’s heart? Pictures of Gumpa with his grandkidlets, which are not easy because there’s always at least one restless one:

    "stop fighting!" the Ms said

curious bystandersThe Maplewood Farm set has grown exponentially since I last linked to it, thanks to high-volume uploading the last couple of hours. My apparent fondness for barnyard animals is a surprise even to me, but maybe this is my conscience spurring me on to become a vegetarian?

I could probably continue for the rest of my life without eating meat and not suffer from any sort of withdrawal, but I must say it’s not easy to resist a nicely barbecued chicken. And, really, if you’ve ever spent any time around (live) chickens, I reckon your chances for converting to a “Save the Chickens!” crusader are about as low as their status on the food chain.

    strum-strum

Last Monday when I took all the Ms over to Tosca and Mike’s place, Michael remembered the ukulele he was so fascinated with the last time we were there in January. He made a beeline for it and Megan followed him. I think at one point they were even fighting over it, then Michael saw the guitar and picked it up and began to strum away. He was calling it Uncle Mike’s guitar until I corrected him.

“That’s not Uncle Mike’s guitar, he doesn’t play the guitar.”
    “Then whose guitar is it?”
    “Auntie Tosca’s.”

Michael found this piece of news revolutionary.

“REALLY????” He was a little dumbfounded by the thought. He stopped. “I’ve never seen a girl playing a guitar!”

I guess that also means he’s not paying attention in church because there’s a teenage girl in my father’s congregation who accompanies the music groups with the electric guitar.

    strum-strum strum-strum

It’s always interesting to see the Ms grow up and watch their interests develop and evolve. Take Megan and Maribeth, for example.
