  1. Spring in North Vancouver

A wee lamb meets another wee lamb (Maribeth, 3).

After driving through pouring rain all the way home from the flight school in Brampton where it was snowing/sleeting (thank goodness for upgrading my windscreen wipers a couple of weeks ago), all I want to do is drink my tea and process the digital stack of photos from the whirlwind weekend in Vancouver.

Last night I did pass out as predicted and woke up this morning like I’d slept for a hundred years. Obviously, this left me *pun alert* flying blind into tonight’s ground school class — Navigational Theory I (of III) — without having read any of the assigned material but I decided to go, anyway, with the idea that I could just repeat the class if I was completely lost.

Part of me is feeling a little apprehensive about this echo cardiogram next Friday (it was moved from May 2 to April 20), hoping against hope that I’ll pass and I can continue my flight training.

Another part of me wanted to go straight home to bed again after work, but to my utmost surprise I was alert all the way through and even managed to keep up with everything. I had no problem figuring out the flight computer (the “whiz wheel” versus the electronic version) and read the navigational charts without assistance.

My inner voice was telling David, “Hey! Look! I get it!” He’d be so pleased.

I helped out my seat neighbour with the charts and flight computer, and he tried to talk me into taking the Navigational Theory II class with him tomorrow instead of next Wednesday.

“If I’m not here tomorrow,” I said, “it’s because I’m asleep!”

  2. Argh! It’s Snowing!

I’m on a break at ground school. I looked outside and lo and behold… white stuff. I thought winter was good and gone by now! I hope it’ll be OK for the drive home.
