09 Feb 2007 Wonkiness Alert

I’m taking Gigi’s Papa out for his birthday tonight and — if I have any vim and vigour left over — will try and tackle a website overhaul. I downloaded the latest version of WordPress a while ago (2.1/Ella), but I didn’t notice until afterwards that it isn’t referencing my link page properly (hence its disappearance; I had to delete it). Which means that my template version of K2 is not jiving properly with WP2.1/Ella. (C’mon Ella, jive! jive!)

Which means (*sigh*) that I need to either:

  1. upgrade to the latest version of K2, which equates to a complete template reworking because this one is a heavily-modified K2 Beta Two r167, or
  2. choose another template entirely AND rework that one.

I tried to rejig some code as a stop-gap, but the reality is that it’s just a short matter of time before I will have to take on this upgrade because my current version of K2 is no longer supported. Yep, one year for a template is something like five in normal calendar years. Welcome to the age of planned obsolescence!

Hopefully I’ll have learned enough PHP, CSS, and SQL by now to make this as painless as a pulled tooth… with anaesthetic!

Holly’s older girl, now a big sister!

I didn’t do much with this photo, actually. Just a bit of radial blur and lightening. I lay on the floor and told her to stand over me. (Which is what I did for my Flickr icon: I put the camera on the floor and stood over it.)

I took the photo the week before Christmas, that’s how behind I am! I’ve been too busy to photograph much lately, and without the Nokia 6682 cameraphone I’m not taking nearly as many photos as I usually do. Still debating whether to try fixing the Canon A80’s kaput button.

It’s midnight as I’m writing this and I’m working with a photo or two in Photoshop just to decompress from the evening. Group Therapy #3 didn’t feel as difficult as #2 last week, but it was still very heavy. Photography is my favourite creative outlet, and I’ve not been engaging in it much lately due to time constraints. Also, contrary to popular belief, I like sleeping…

This weekend I’d like to get out the Pentax K-1000 and shoot some film. One good thing about shooting with an old film camera is that there are no electronics, which means no lithium battery to go wonky in cold winter weather. The Pentax is my all-weather camera!
