Music: “The Blue Danube” by the Berlin Philharmonic
I spliced about eight or so clips together and scaled the final clip length to the music, so it’s running about 62% faster than real-time. I especially like the part with the windows popping out in the crusher and the crane tossing the car onto the heap.

Great shots on here Gail. I also shoot on a K1000. Been threatening to upgrade but my K1000 is like an old trusty friend. Your Harlem cloudscape photo is posted to uptownflavor.com Already garnered one comment. Its a great shot!
Gail, I hadn’t seen this, Naomi from A little Red Hen emailed me about it. I took the liberty of posting it to my blog with all due links of course. Hope you won’t mind.
I love it!

Not at all, Claude! Blog away!
I just discovered this video on Claude’s blog. I love it, it’s astonishing. The contrast with the Blue Danube gives a quality of strangeness to the scene. It doesn’t look real. Interesting point of view over our civilisation.
The guide informed us that it took about two years to obtain permission to tour the site. Everyone took photos, so I don’t believe it has anything to do with proprietary methods or anything like that, mostly corporate bureaucracy. But what it means is that the general public doesn’t get to see what happens to the steel products after their primary use has reached its end.
When you look at the mountain of scrap metal, it makes you think of how short the cycle is between consume and discard.
Claude sent me. What a great unusual video!!
Loved it!!!
[...] I enjoyed Gail at gailatlarge’s videoclip Steelworks so much that I thought of putting together some of my numerous manhole covers to make a slideshow out of them. [...]
