It shouldn’t come as any surprise to see so many FOOD shots herewith, considering the wealth of culinary delights in downtown Vancouver. I had lunch with my friend Vicky, who’s off to Europe in short order, so that called for a stopover at Yoshi on Denman Street. We sat upstairs on the patio and I took in the marvellous view of Coal Harbour, Stanley Park, and the North Shore mountains in the background. If there’s one thing I miss about living here, it’s the mountains and enormous trees and Japanese restaurants on every block!

Not much time to write while I’m in Vancouver, due to much to-ing and fro-ing. Will have to resort to shorthand and telegraph-ish entries.
Yesterday was Family Day, starting off with an afternoon with the kidlets — who are getting too big to be called kidlets anymore, except for the twins! — and then taking my father and stepmum out for dinner to a Vietnamese restaurant. I nearly dozed off on the Skytrain home after umpteen piggyback rides (2 rounds x 5 kids), stories, hide-and-go-seek, chasing, playing, pushing swings and hysterically funny conversations with five little people who are learning how to outtalk one another.
Then there’s my father, who’s nearly 70 and still asks me to order for him because he’s intimidated by menus.
The MJEs in their new clothes from Toronto, minus Megan who was bawling her eyes out for having been evilly coerced into a costume change. (A toddler phase, natch.)
More takes after the jump.
I sent the digicam up the CN Tower with Jez on Wednesday to film Berit’s feat of daring: to walk across the glass floor of the observation deck. Why? Because when somebody says they’re afraid of heights, one must videotape for posterity.
Good for you, Berit! I did it last year, but mainly with David’s help. Berit did it this year, for Vinny.
