In a completely random moment today working on Excel spreadsheets, I looked up and had an image of David standing in the hallway. It hit me like a ton of bricks and I couldn’t stop my eyes from welling up with tears. Thankfully, no one in the office walked by in those moments as I hid behind my computer monitor and tried to regain my composure. For two weeks in November 2004 I worked side-by-side with David while we were waiting for Verizon to install DSL in our house for me to work from home. One of the saddest days in the New Year was when I had to archive David’s personal files from his office computer and clear his things from the desk where he’d worked for eight years. I don’t know what took root in my brain to bring this image of David at work to the front of my mind, but it took supreme willpower to make it subside.
