Hugh’s been having accident after accident since yesterday, so I’m taking him to the vet this afternoon to check his levels and see why after two good weeks he’s having problems again.

    UPDATE, evening time:

$242 later, Hugh is back home, after an examination, urine sample and bloodwork. He was prescribed another regimen of medication, this time something to help contract his bladder because it was completely full when we arrived (and that’s after Hugh peed on me when he saw his carrier, as per normal). It looks like he’s having some neurological problem that’s preventing him from peeing properly.

This medication is 3x per day for 6 days, then 2x per day for 8 days. At least after six days, both drugs can be administered at once. Hugh’s blood and urine samples get checked by the lab tonight, and tomorrow we’ll find out if he has other problems.

Right now I can tell Hugh’s not feeling well: he just stares at the water dish without drinking, and has no interest in eating the roast chicken I just bought for him. He must be completely blocked up. Ouch :( I can tell that something is definitely amiss when he won’t eat chicken, it’s his favourite.

Times like this I wish Hugh could talk.

I was lucky to get the bird soaring in the background, because I didn’t notice it when I was taking the shot.

Toronto was enveloped in a really dense fog a little while ago, the thickest I’ve ever seen it here. It’s already begun to dissipate.

I dropped what change I had (not much) in his case. He peered down at my coins with disdain. I asked permission if I could take his photo, and he said yes, his look of disdain never really going away.
