Where do I even begin writing about the past week??? Tell you what, it won’t be in chronological order. I have a veritable mountain of recorded media (digital/film photos, digital/analog video) to process, so the writing of entries will be formed around whatever happens to be edited and uploaded first.
I’ve finally completed the most urgent items on my task list after returning to the apartment yesterday (I stayed at Rachael’s mum’s place the other night so I could return the rental car in half the time), the most expensive of which was picking up my car today. To the tune of $1,200+. Can you say OUCH? Ow! Ow! Ow! The mechanic showed me the hose that broke along the highway, and the cooling fan that had to be replaced because even though it was the resistor that burnt out, that part isn’t sold separately, the whole assembly must be purchased. Figures.
Before I set off for the media mountain base camp, I would like to herald my road trip companion, the venerable and talented Rachael, who flew back to Vancouver this evening after putting some serious mileage on her photographic equipment. She saw more of the United States in those four days than she’d ever seen in her entire life! But I am extremely grateful to Rachael for her mega-moxie to pledge the trip in the first place all those months ago, and see it through some bumps in the proverbial road. A person could not have a better journey chum than Rachael, on the road or in life. Truly.
Now that things are finally winding down, I can spend some time putting the pictorial and narrative together. It’s been quite the week-and-then-some.
