Gigi sits anxiously, while Hugh lurks around the corner.
Operation Animal Household Merger was stymied this afternoon, thanks to Hugh charging Gigi like a rhinocerous.
I did what any strategist would’ve done: brought in the Big Guns, namely spray bottles filled with cold water. Drastic times, drastic measures and all that.
I should’ve thought of this before, especially when Hugh was chasing Melissa around during our wedding weekend. I’ve managed to get Hugh to back off, and right now he’s keeping a bit of distance from Gigi, who’s lounging on her bed. I’ve left the door open and I’ve got the spray bottles on the counter at the ready in case Hugh decides he wants to attack again. He keeps circling the kitchen, stopping at the bedroom doorway to peek at her and swish his tail. Around and around. Thankfully Gigi’s just ignoring him.
At least I’ve got a deterrent that WORKS, and hopefully it will help to bring about peaceful cohabitation. Or at least prevent an emergency trip to the vet’s.
