  1. Snowed In

    March 2, 2006 by Gail

Yep, we’re snowed in. It began early this morning, and didn’t let up until about an hour ago, but now it’s sleet. The snowplows only started to go through the neighbourhood around noon, so we were stuck, anyway. When it comes to weather I err on the side of caution, especially since my entire life (and some of David’s) is encased in these vehicles. I don’t want anything happening to Dax, either, and if we got stranded anywhere along the way I’d have to contend with a terrified kitty when his drug wears off. (I have more, but he’d still be miserable.) There are just too many things that could go terribly wrong. I’m no alarmist, but I’ve been through enough bad weather to know when to back off.

The major factor in timing, though, is the U.S. border. Both borders are open 24/7, but on the U.S. side the department that deals with commercial vehicles and import/export is only open 08:00-16:00. Which means we couldn’t leave if the weather improved today, the earliest we could (safely) leave is around 6 o’clock tomorrow morning.
