    It’s Helma’s birthday today, and I’d be helping her celebrate if there wasn’t an international border and 381 miles (613 kms) between us. So, in lieu, I will toast her good health and prosperity by raising a glass of happy latté and a cup of chocolate love.

  2. High Park Station

    An unusual sight — a TTC (metro Toronto) station, completely empty. On a Friday night!

    I submitted my lease application this afternoon. I’ll have a status update tomorrow, at the end of the business day. Once I have the proof of residency, I can apply for Ontario health insurance and driver’s license.

    Tweaked my resumé even more this afternoon to apply for some lucrative positions in the financial services sector. We’ll see what happens.

  4. Brrrr!

    I finished off a roll of film the other day after an extensive browse around Chapters with Serg at Yonge and Eglinton. I’d forgotten my gloves (and boots!) at home in Pennsylvania, so taking photos outdoors was a real challenge (what with the shivering and all), and the pigeons weren’t cooperating. In this cold, who’d blame ‘em?

    I was pleased to see what emerged from the roll, though. I haven’t been this excited at the photo lab in a long time. The photo above is one of my favourites from the batch. Some other pics from Saturday:
