I just finished making the first copy of the memorial videotape from the camera cassettes. I tried to do this yesterday, but after about five minutes, I had to stop the videocamera… I couldn’t watch it. Yesterday was an emotional day; it took me by surprise. It took watching a DVD to try and fill my head with other thoughts, and I chose a particular documentary, which I’ll write about later.
Today I went over to a neighbour’s house to give them some food and an update, and it helped. Bill’s been a longtime friend to David, probably around 14 or 15 years. In fact, one of the reasons David bought this house was to live closer to Bill, not just because he liked the neighbourhood. They designed and built model airplanes together and spent many hours in Bill’s workshop — Bill would handle the construction and David would do the detailing. David told me he learned patience and craftsmanship from Bill, and I knew they were close. Hearing stories about their time together makes me feel like David’s close by. (more…)
